The lava flow at Litli-Hrútur has paused for now, but the area is still warm and fascinating to visit. After quiet years since the 2012 and 2022 eruptions, the Reykjanes Peninsula has come alive again with a new July eruption forming fresh lava fields.

This day tour from Reykjavík takes you through the volcanic landscapes of Geldingadalur Valley, past Meradalir and Fagradalsfjall, with photo stops at Lake Kleifarvatn, the Bridge Between Continents, and Gunnuhver Hot Springs.

Start with a scenic pickup from Reykjavík, then hike 2 hours each way to the Litli-Hrútur viewpoint (route may vary for safety).
